The PNW Adventure, Day 7: first day on the bikes

From the ferry to the road to camp. A full and interesting day.

The ferry ride wasn’t as cold. Seeing them lash the bikes to the railing on the car deck was a bit disconcerting.

Landing in Friday Harbor it was a slow climb out of town. We opted for the northern route to Roche Harbor. Lots of climbing and time walking the heavy bikes.

Saw the sculpture garden and the mausoleum. Then the ride changed.

Jody’s derailleur came apart. If not for some kind passersby she might still be out there. Looking to have the bike repaired. Worst case is she has to get a rental.

And to add to the goodwill of the folks who live on these islands, I must mention Serena. The ranger at our campground, she offered to take the bike home and then to the bike shop in the morning!

The playlist today should include songs with a theme around friendship.

Camp food and a beautiful sunset. A conversation with a tandem pair on a T-50.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Relentless
