The PNW Adventure, Day 6: checking out the ferry and Friday Harbor

We got rolling early. While Jody worked, Shannon and I did a recon mission to Friday Harbor and San Juan Island.

For starters we got the lay of the land where we could be dropped at the ferry terminal. Then we would stage our bikes and gear for loading onto the ferry. Arriving at least 45 minutes early we also learned that the ferries ran late.

Talking with a couple of groups of cyclists helped further demystify everything from clothing to accommodations to route.

Shannon found a “trolley” that, for $25, did a loop of the island in about an hour. While we could have gotten off at several places we would have lost an hour each time. So we opted to stay on and sightsee. Actually the driver, a vagabond retiree in his late 60s was both entertaining and helpful. We saw each of the points of interest and stops we needed to know about on this tour.

Crab cake lunch then some souvenir shopping. The ferry back to the mainland included a stop at Lopez Island.

The playlist today was conversation and camaraderie. People learning from and about others.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Relentless
