TMI? Are We In Touch Too Much?

There’s a children’s book, the Berenstain Bears’ “Too Much Birthday” where the birthday child just hass too much to take in on their special day.

Are we all getting that way with social media?  Now, I know this is an almost-overdone topic, but it appears that we are getting worse.  Besides the dinners where everyone around teh table have bowed their heads, but not in prayer or drivers texting, we are too connected from a device standpoint.

But worse, we have an expectation that all should be shared or that we have to share all.  There was a time when there was some privacy in the world. We got along just fine without knowing which restaurant our friends were visiting or how much fun mom and dad are having on their vacation.

I’m a long-time advocate of face-to-face communication.  These devices , at first, too us there more quickly.  Now we have gone past that point and are reveling in the information and not why we need to know it. As with all communication, there is the tactic that takes us there to do something with it, take action.

Don’t lose sight of what is needing to be accomplished by focusing on the delivery system. As with any tool, use it for teh right situation and then put it away.

Relentless
