Today was haircut day with my personal favorite, positive thinker and doer, Phyllis. She reminded me of something we all need to be aware of: do you have the skills to back up your claims?
Only she said, “I can go anywhere with my scissors and comb and succeed as long as I can back them up with my mouth. And vice versa.”
It’s really true: your basic skills plus passion and filling an unmet need can make you successful beyond your wildest dreams. Sometimes we know that passion; other times that career, skills and attendant passion find us.
So, are your basic skills, sharp? Do they match the claims you make? Can you do what you promise?
No matter your skills, your place in society or culture, you can succeed if you believe. Just believe Phyllis. She’s a great example.
She always seems to come up with these ideas just about the time I need them. Thanks, Phyllis.
