Report from the Field: The Dubai Air Show 2011

Our colleague, Kimberly Williamson of Aviall, is at the Dubai Air Show in the United Arab Emirates this month. The filed this report in advance of the show.

****************************

The 2011 version of the Dubai Air Show, opening November 13, is set to be bigger than the 2009 version.  With over 1,000 exhibitors from 50 countries, the show should draw more than 53,000 visitors.

The show is the Middle East debut of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and it should be a grand debut.  As a unit of the Boeing Company, Aviall is also a big part of the show.  It is a big part of our exhibit program and customer outreach worldwide.

While Dubai is a significant event in the world of aviation, aerospace and defense, it is also a bit of throwback.  The gala event features 1960s music sensation, Tom Jones.  Some things never change.

When I return from the show, I’ll pass on any new and important information on the show.  In the meantime, keep watching the headlines.

Thank you, Kimberly, for this set up report.  We’ll look for a detailed post-show report when you return.
