Barriers

We all come up against them on a regular basis. Maybe even on a daily basis.

Barriers.

I’m not talking brick-and-mortar structures here, I’m talking about impediments to getting things done. For example, I put off taking my morning walk because I can’t find my gloves. Well, I could look for them, but I have the convenient stall tactic of not having gloves handy. I need to get after myself and either look for a pair of gloves or, on some morning, go gloveless. The fresh air and the time with the dogs give me a kick start to the day.

So it is with networking: you can’t make that happy hour because it’s too far across town or too late.  The breakfast meeting is too early or you just don’t know wnaybody.

Get over it.

Too late? You were only to go home and watch TV or sit by the computer anyway.  Go itneract with real people.

Too far? Offer to car pool with a friend.

Don’t know anybody? Take somebody with you, agree to meet or bring your best “meeting new people” attitude.

You have to breach the barrier if you are going to continue to move forward.  Go for it.

Relentless
