Throwing the Hail Mary Pass

The 26th anniversary of Doug Flutie’s last-second pass to beat powerhouse Miami of Florida is tomorrow.  This feat of strength and desire is something we in business need to emulate.

Especially in today’s environment–whatever that phrase has become.

When it comes to putting yourself out there, there come times when you have to give it your all or one last strong push to earn or gain business. Is it the long-term client who can’t make a decision without your input?  Or is it the new prospect you haven’t quite been able to get their attention?  Whichever it is, consider making one, strong pitch–a Hail Mary heave–to get in front of them.

If you haven’t done so, try this:

  • Call and set a meeting
  • Put the key words together that answer their questions to the point
  • Ask for their business and set a timetable

This is a simplification of what you really should do, but let’s face it: taking action is better than not taking action.

Relentless
