The Dime

Just about the time you question a higher power, a situation come along or presetns itself toi help you change your point of view.

We were returning from our trip to a local coffee shop across a busy street from us.  I picked Sal up and was readying to cross the street with the light. I waited until it was a full up green. Looked left, then right, then left.

The red-light runner wasn’t anywhere near the intersection when I started to walk he was going so fast. I’m actually amazed he stopped in time. When he did it was with a blast of his horn and his bumper so close to me my leg brushed against his bumper.

He drove off and we continued our walk, a bit shaken, across the street.

It wasn’t until later that I thought the situation through. When I first was standing at the curb,  I looked down there was a dime. I usually stop and pick up loose change. Not that day for some reason. But that split-second pause probably saved us. If I’d have stopped to piuck up the coin, the car would have whizzed by. As it was, the split second I was distracted put us just enough out of the way to save us.

Thank you God.

Relentless
