Like putting an old horse out to pasture, my Felt road bike has been on its last ride. With me, at least.
Goodbye, Old Paint. You were a good steed. Carried me through a lot of experiences, an important relationship, and taught me the value of safety. That last bit probably brought you to your end. Falls from a narrow-tired bike will do that to a cyclist.
But, take heart, my trusted companion, you taught me a lot and, eventually, helped me understand the real types of cycling I should be participating in–and enjoying.
You were found by my bike acquirer, David, on Marketplace. From the time that September day when Pam and I retrieved you from Waco, until today, you’ve served me well. Like all relationships, it came to an end and taught me things I maybe didn’t think I had to learn.
Dunking my tire in the Mississippi River after RAGBRAI. Riding in rallies in Arizona, Arkansas and all over Texas. And those almost daily group and solo rides. Over 9,000 miles (per Strava). Out of the pandemic. Through The Breakup. And onto The Fall at Tour de Zona.
You were there.
Now you will find a new home via Bike Mart as I transition to a wider-tired road bike. Safety first.
Farewell, my friend. See you on the trail.
Relentless
