Getting Back to Networking Basics

We all get so caught up in networking that we sometimes forget the basics, the ABCs of the art and science of networking.  It is more than just collecting and passing out business cards.

Here’s a simple primer based on what to think about before, during and after you head out to that next networking event.

  1. Think about what you will be doing before, during and after the event.
  2. Have a plan before you go–who will you meet and why.
  3. Have a unique introduction prepared.
  4. Bring business cards.
  5. Know what to write on your nametag and where to place it.
  6. Think about a follow up gift–article or referral.
  7. Remember appropriate body language.
  8. Think about your ideal prospect.
  9. Network with Energy.
  10. Move on and move around.
  11. Act like the host.
  12. Follow up promptly.

It is really not that long a list. If you think or do all of these items you will be successful.

Good networking to you all!

Relentless
