A great nearly 6-mile round-trip hike with the Beyond group.
It is one of those hikes that you don’t realize how far you’ve gone and at altitude until you finish. And it is well worth the almost 50-mile drive south of Tucson. Deep in the Santa Rita Mountains in Santa Cruz County, the hike is in a National Recreation Area.
Lots of steps and great views. And several elevation changes.
Our group of about 20 traversed the well-marked trail well. I chose to use my hiking poles. A stop at the turnaround is a great idea. Be sure an bring lots of water.
