David Yetman Trail West Hike

The Tucson Mountains are full of trails and adventures. The latest one for me is the David Yetman Trail. Another “get familiar with Tucson” hike, thanks to my “coffee dealer.”

Vicki described it perfectly: beautiful views and a great example of the Sonoran desert. We thought we were starting on one end and actually started on the other–the far west side near Gates Pass. We headed west and found it a bit challenging–glad we had poles.  Fresh air, a light breeze and we got our steps in.

What’s really interesting about this trail is who it is named for: David Yetman is a social scientist, author and TV host.  His work related to the Sonoran Desert has exposed millions to our locale.

Back to the trail: not a lot of traffic, great views, better company.  A bit too rough for dogs, particularly those with short legs.  Rocky and more natural than improved, the trail is meant to get you though the area and experience the terrain at the same time.

I’d do this one again.

Relentless
