Cyclovia Spring 2025

Having ridden this event in the past, I knew this was going to be fun.  It happens twice a year (spring and fall) and takes a different route each time.  Usually held on a bike boulevard, this time it was the Treat Avenue corridor.  The “course” is usually about 3 miles in length and anchored by parks along the way and at both ends. Food, music, art, beer, bikes, and just plain fun.

My cycling buddy from Green Valley, Patty, joined me this time around (that’s her in the featured shot with the guy with the sombrero).  She and I have biked this event in the past so that means dancing and eating and so on along the way.

But that’s what this event is, anyway.

It is neighborhood culture falling into the streets.  Kids’ lemonade stands alongside the big local restauranteurs’ tents and tables.  All manner of bikes, trikes and people-powered vehicles make their way up and down the course.  We stopped to see my friend, Szifra and her ukelele band.  Lunch was a Ethiopian taco.  The beer tents ran out before we got thereor we could have sampled the local craft beers. Mariachi bands, native dancers and ancient bread makers (really).

It hardly felt like we were riding with 40,000 of our friends and neighbors.

Did get to meet up with my friend, Jenna, from Transit Bikes, in her tent tuning up bikes.

All in all, a fun day.  Too much sun, great food and company and another way to enjoy being on the bike.

Relentless
