Cyclovia, Fall 2025

The fall edition of this immersive community event was just as much fun or more fun that previous installments.  This time around it was held on a bike boulevard with which I am not familiar- North 9th and 10th Avenues, and 15th Avenue.

The bonus of this was that unfamiliar territory takes you to new places.  The Dunbar Springs Neighborhood, part of Sugar Hill, Old Pasqua, Bronx Park and Esquer Park. And it was a rolling, walking and sitting block party.  People in costumes dancing in the street, food trucks, a beer garden and music from ukulele bands and accordion players.

My riding companion at this event (and most other Cyclovias) is my friend and fellow cyclist, Patty.  IT’s not a serious ride, rather more of “let’s follow the party” cruise.  This time around we were in unfamiliar but friendly, local neighborhoods.  So we could take the time to stop and have a beer in a local beer garden and meet new friends.  Lots of art to peruse and admire.

This year focused on community and non-profit organizations (stressing volunteerism).  So right in the middle of the event at the Pima Community College North Stone Campus were a number of booths featuring NPOs.  Their services ranged from housing to food to providing IDs. And some medial testing was offered as well.

It seems each time this event is held it is different.  Chalk that up to location—there is such variety in neighborhoods in Tucson you can’t help but sample different foods, meet new people and be exposed to a broad swath of culture.

Looking forward to the Spring 2026 version.

Relentless
