It was a nice book-end to the year. A hike on the last day of 2024 as a follow up to my hike on the first day of 2024
Back on January 1, I started the year with a hike of Goat Island Preserve near Dallas. A fun day of discovery and learning new territory with new friends.
Today, December 31, I hiked Pima Canyon near Tucson. With a new friend in new (old) territory.
A full circle year. Thanks to my Coffee Dealer.
When Vicki suggested Pima Canyon, I was in. Not a lot of elevation and something I can almost see from my house. In a way it gets me closer to learning the names of the peaks for the Catalinas.
The trail was rocky and a bit crowded (others had the same idea we did about closing out the year on a trail). I’m a bit slow with my knees and Vicki needed some time in the fresh air, so we were glad to step aside and let groups pass. And in a few places I wished I had hiking poles and real hiking shoes.
However, a mile and a half out and back did us a world of good. Lots of great conversation, views of west Tucson and south. The air was clear and bright, almost like a painting of a surreal blue.
Getting closer to those peaks.
Relentless
