I’ve got some famous friends you’ve probably never heard of
But back in (East Dallas) our crowd is second to none
You might not know ’em here in this big city we’re in
But when I go back home, I’ve got some famous friends
Yeah, I do
With apologies to country artists Chris Young and Kane Brown I borrowed these lyrics recently. It seems my Cairn Terrier, Sally (and Harry, too) has her picture hanging in a few places around Old East Dallas.
Since Sally and I have been walking and becoming creatures of habit in our neighborhoods, we’ve gotten to know some of the local merchants, watering holes and coffee shops quite well. Well enough that now Sal’s photo hangs in several places.
At the top of this story is the bar at District 9 Brau Haus. Alex, the bartender, befriended us early after Harry departed last June and we wanted to thank Alex with the picture they proudly display on their bar.
Our almost-daily haunt, Well-Grounded Coffee, is next up as they have welcomed Sal joyously for over a year. I swear they knew her name before they knew mine.
We are regulars at Lakehouse and our favorite waitperson, Heather, found a place for Sal’s photo at the end of the bar.
Oak Highlands Brewing includes her in their Canine Club.
And Humble Simply Good Pies not only displays Sal’s photo, but Harry’s iconic ball shot, too.
So, as the song says, “I’ve got a famous friends you probably haven’t heard of…”
But now you have.
Love you, Sal.
Relentless
