The PNW Adventure, Day 4: From the Snake to the Sound

The day was bookended by the sun: sunrise over the Snake River and sunset on Puget Sound. From dry Idaho to wet Washington.

Lots of miles in between. The wine country of Oregon and Washington reminds me of California. Including the scorched grasslands.

A few backroads along the way reminded me of Iowa from RAGBRAI last year  Rolling farmlands and clapboard houses and farm equipment.  That sound you hear is the heart of America beating.

Crossing the Columbia River into Washington was like going back in time. Thirty years since I’ve seen those names—Walla Walla, Skykomish, Issaquah. I took a trip in the Wayback Machine as I ambled up I-405.

Had a relavatory moment that helped my heart to heal. Let’s just say empathy has power.

Today’s playlist included the BoDeans, Major Garrett and Terry Gross.

Met up with Jody, Shannon, Chewie and Stella at a local brewery.

Tenting tonight.

Relentless
