Starting the day with a clean sheet of paper

Every morning I awake to a clean sheet of paper in my notebook.  While I should do my humble to-do list on my iPad or as an electronic notes list in Outlook, I choose to still use a pen and plain paper to organize the day.

So far it has worked.

Beginning on a righthand page, I fill the lined page with two columns of things I need to accomplish and places I am going that day.  While my phone and other calendars are synced up and remind me throughout the day of where I should be.

Sorting out the day before it begins on this blank canvas gives the chance to review the day before as well as look ahead.  It causes me to remember things from yesterday and I look back at my notes so that I don’t forget anything.  I may or may not get to everything, but it is there for me to think about and set up as goals.

Some days I go straight down the list, other days I skip around. I try to do the most important (those things that make the company money followed by those things that cost the company money).

It is an exercise for the mind, the fingers and the spirit.

If America’s day begins in Guam, then my day begins on my to-do list.

Relentless
