Holidays and Trade Shows

With Christmas and the other end-of-the-year holidays upon us, the intersection of trade shows and holidays appears before us.

There are a number of shows that occur either around or actually on holidays.  If the show opens after a holiday chances are set up will happen on the day itself.  Here are a few examples:

  • New Year’s: Consumer Electronics (CES) in Las Vegas usually sets during the last week or so of the year because it opens the first week after the New Year starts.
  • Christmas week: with Home Builder’s (IBS) and National Retail Federation (NRF) opening in either early or mid January most year’s it is a possibility that exhibits will be assembled and shipped in the waning weeks of the year.
  • Easter: the Navy League of the US Sea-Air-Space Expo (NLUS) used to always fall on the week leading up to or after Easter Sunday, so teardown took place on Good Friday or set up on Easter Sunday.
  • Father’s Day: the Building Owner’s Manager’s Association (BOMA) always opened on Father’s Day.
  • Thanksgiving: the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) usually open the Monday after Thanksgiving, meaning set up takes place over the Turkey Day weekend.

Any others you can think of?

Happy Holidays to all of you!
